CARRS-Q hosted 2 events by Visiting Research Fellow, Dr Will Murray, Research Director, Interactive Driving Systems (United Kingdom).

CARRS-Q Breakfast Series - 31 July 2007

Dr Will Murray

Dr Muarray's presentation at the CARRS-Q Breakfast Series examined workplace initiatives and how they can improve community road safety.

The workplace is an opportunity to target young drivers, family members and local communities - who are a captive audience because employers pay their wages and have an influence over the communities in which they operate.

Dr Murray described how proactive organisations in the United Kingdom, such as British Telecom, Centrica (British Gas), Nestle and Wolseley UK achieve a range of safety, corporate social responsibility, legal, business and cost benefits through such initiatives.

Dr Murray specialises in researching, developing and empowering clients around the world to implement effective work-related road safety solutions.

CARRS-Q/ACRS Seminar - 7 August 2007
Dr Will Murray Seminar 2

At this seminar Dr Murray spoke about how occupational road safety (ORS) has grown in importance as the extent of the problem has emerged, and an increasing number of researchers, practitioners and government agencies have seen its potential for protecting human and financial resources.

In this session Dr Murray focused on the outcomes from research and best practice case study organisations from around the world, particularly emphasising why ORS is important, how it can be improved and program evaluation.
