Overview
On Wednesday, 4 October 2006, CARRS-Q hosted 2 presentations as part of its Breakfast Series. This seminar allowed you to hear from 2 of the most respected speakers in the area of applying research to improve transportation safety. Kathryn Stewart and Barry Sweedler are the founding partners of Safety and Policy Analysis International, a consulting firm that deals with transportation safety and drug and alcohol issues in public policy.

Ms Stewart's speciality is developing documents that show how research findings can be used by States and communities to reduce impaired driving and other substance-related problems.

Mr Sweedler was previously the Director of the Office of Safety Recommendations and Accomplishments of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. He currently chairs the system Users Group Executive Board of the United States Academy of Sciences, Transportation Research Board (TRB) that covers many safety issues, such as: the older driver; truck and bus safety; pedestrians; bicycles; traffic law enforcement; operator licensing; motorcycles; human factors; and alcohol and drugs.
