About CARRS-Q The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q) was established in 1996 as a joint venture between the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). As one of only two internationally recognised, university-based research centres of its kind in Australia, the Centre was created to address the enormous human, economic and social factors resulting from road crashes. The Centre has since expanded its research to include areas of research such as Regulation and Enforcement, Safety Systems and Technology, School and Community Injury Prevention, Vulnerable Road Users and Occupational Safety.
