History of the QRSA Community Engagement Workshop
Following the success of a new initiative from 2009, the Leighton Contractors Queensland Road Safety Awards Business Development Workshop, and in response to industry, stakeholder and Awards participant feedback, the Awards presentation ceremony was replaced in 2010 with a new annual event – the Queensland Road Safety Awards Community Engagement Workshop. The workshop, which was an extension of the outreach provided by the Queensland Road Safety Awards, involved representatives from CARRS-Q, industry and the general community working together, sharing ideas, creating a cohesive collaborative space and facilitated networking, and the workshopping of issues, projects and solutions. Awards were presented again in 2011 and will be presented every second year thereafter. Who attends the workshop? Participants are drawn from our existing network of contacts throughout Queensland and primarily include representatives from community and not-for-profit organisations involved in community road safety initiatives. Participants from both State and local government agencies also attend. Where and when is it held? The workshop is held in Brisbane in October each year. Attendance is free of charge for all attendees. Travel assistance grants are available for selected representatives from rural and regional Queensland on application. |
