Important issues for passengers include seatbelt use, properly fitted devices for young children, the risks of travelling with an intoxicated driver or in an overcrowded car, and distraction of the driver by passengers. Motorcycle pillion passengers also face unique risks in the event of a crash due to their relative lack of protection (compared to vehicle occupants).
